What do you get when you mix bold new flavor launches, an NBA legend who just happens to be a fan of our products, and a trip to Indianapolis? It all came together for our team at the 2025 Sweets & Snacks Expo with two standout booths, one industry award, and the debut of our refreshed mascot, MacNutty Buddy.
As one of the largest gatherings in the confectionery and snack industry, the Sweets & Snacks Expo is always a big deal—but this year felt different. For Hawaiian Host Group, it was a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the incredible people who bring our brands to life.
From the start, our team set out to make an impact. “Planning begins months in advance,” said Kristine Manion, Senior Global Brand Manager of Mauna Loa. “From securing our booth location to designing every detail of the experience—from swag to sample displays—we wanted to show up unified, energized, and ready to share who we are.”
That spirit came through in every interaction—and in a few fun surprises along the way. This year, we welcomed NBA Hall of Famer and longtime fan of our brands, James Worthy, for a special meet-and-greet at our booth. With custom Mauna Loa basketballs and a hoop installed—highlighting our role as the Official Snack Nut of the Maui Invitational—Worthy’s presence and brand advocacy drew in crowds and created extra buzz, making the whole experience unforgettable.
Product First—With Heart
Of course, the heart of the show was still our products. At our Mauna Loa and Hawaiian Host booths, our team brought a fresh energy—sharing new product samples, interactive experiences, and the Spirit of Hawai‘i that defines our brands.

Our Hawaiian Host team had special reason to celebrate: the Paradise Collection’s new Ube flavor was named a Top Five finalist in the Most Innovative New Product Awards. Judged by more than 40 industry experts, the recognition generated major buzz and brought steady traffic to our booth. Positioned alongside our award-winning Strawberries & Cream (which took home the innovation prize in 2023), Ube’s spotlight moment reinforced Hawaiian Host’s place among the industry’s most respected brands. Inspired by a flavor with deep cultural roots and crafted by our talented internal teams, Ube is set to hit shelves later this year.
Attendees also got to experience the debut of Choco Mango—a rich blend of chocolate and dried mango that captured strong buyer interest and enthusiasm. The response was so strong, we’re now exploring additional flavors to expand the line.
We also gave visitors a first look (and taste) of our newly updated Caramacs. With redesigned packaging and a softer, smoother caramel, the updated Caramacs made a strong impression and were warmly received on the show floor.
Why We Show Up
While product innovation was a major highlight, what made this year truly special were the people. “It’s amazing to see people’s faces light up as they walk toward our booth,” said Kristine. “They come ready to tell us how they first discovered our brands—whether it was in Hawaiʻi or somewhere far away—and how much it means to them. That emotional connection is something we never take for granted.”
The 2025 Sweets & Snacks Expo reminded us of the power of showing up with bold ideas and big flavor. It reinforced our commitment to creating products that people love. Whether it’s a nostalgic snack, a new product, or a conversation that sparks joy, we’re proud to be part of the moments that matter.
Mahalo to everyone who made it happen!
